The Stratford Kiwanis Garlic Festival returns this weekend for a 17th year.
The festival, run by the Kiwanis Club of Stratford, aims to support local programs and projects, with all proceeds going to places like The Christmas Basket Fund, Local Community Food Centre, and House of Blessing.
The first one was held in 2007.
Festival organizer Don Scott said the event is much more than garlic now.
“It was started by local garlic growers and Kiwanis Club, and moved it from the outside,” said Scott. “We’re now at the Rotary Complex since 2017, and we’re all set to go.”
Scott said the event will see seven Tastings and Pairings this Saturday, which will include wine, beer, spirits, and different foods.
He said they have the first-ever non-alcoholic tasting and pairing with tea leaves and candy.
Other highlights include presentations, cooking demonstrations from local celebrity chefs, samplings, and a silent auction.
General admission is $10, with the two-day pass costing $15.
The festival runs from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, and from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday.
