Stratford Kidney Walk will support research and programs

The Stratford Kidney Walk is right around the corner.

The event is organized by the Kidney Foundation Of Canada’s Waterloo Wellington and District Chapter, and officials said proceeds support research projects and offer programs for those affected by kidney disease.

Fund and Community development officer Leigh-Anne Quinn said participants will walk a 3.5 kilometer route and come back to Upper Queens Park, with food available afterwards.

“Our goal was $11,000, and we’ve actually surpassed that,” said Quinn.

“We are at 104 percent of our goal, and all of the funds are re-directed to our programs, our services, and funding research.”

According to Kidney Walk, Stratford has raised $11,490 ahead of the local walk.

Quinn said you can register online or in-person at Upper Queens Park, where the walk takes place.

The event runs on Sept. 27, starting at 10 a.m.
