Parcel of land donated for North Perth housing project

The Municipality of North Perth has donated a 0.3 acre parcel of land for a housing project.

North Perth Council supported the donation on Monday, with the parcel being given to Community Living North Perth, a non-profit that supports residents with developmental disabilities.

The municipality said the non-profit will use the land to build a 15-unit housing facility, with four units going to those eligible for housing support through Stratford’s social services.

Mayor Todd Kasenberg said the project is more than housing.

“It’s about inclusion, independence, and opportunity,” said Kasenberg.

“By working together with Community Living North Perth, we can create a place where people feel supported, safe, and connected to the community.”

Executive Director of the non-profit Jennifer Croft said with this support, they hope to provide housing stability for those who need it the most.

To support the project, an event called The Power of Place to Call Home: An Evening of Building Futures will take place at the Listowel Golf and Country Club on October 30.

Tickets go on sale mid-September.
