Learn about challenges faced by vulnerable members of the community in St. Marys

It’s a chance to discuss the realities of housing and homelessness.

Residents can meet the Town of St. Marys community outreach worker, Jade Orquin, at the Friendship Centre on Tues. Sept. 23, from 6-7:30 p.m. and while there learn about challenges faced by vulnerable members of the community.

The town said Orquin will present experiences from frontline work and offer perspectives on difficulties encountered by individuals experiencing homelessness or relying on social assistance.

Orquin said every story she encounters reminds her of the resilience and hope that exists in the face of hardship and by coming together, lasting change can be created for neighbours in need.

Guests can engage and learn about resources available for people facing housing instability.

Whether you have personal experience, want to support members of the community, or want to better understand the complex issues surrounding homelessness, the event will provide insight and practical information to strengthen community connections.

You can register through ActiveNet at the Town of St. Marys website or by calling St. Marys Friendship Centre at 519-284-3272.
