A new local production looks to explore family and friendship, with a few laughs along the way.
Hilda’s Yard, written by Canadian playwright Norm Foster, tells the story of Hilda and Sam Fluck, a couple looking to relax on a nice summer day in 1956 after their children Gary and Janey moved out.
The St. Marys Community Players said while Hilda does the laundry and Sam goes to buy a new television, their kids fall over the fence into the backyard, where they are looking for help in some sticky situations.
Play director Costin Manu said the story not only sets the stage for laughs, but also captures the moment when the good old days started to get weird.
The play will focus on family, friendship, and the generational divide affecting the Flucks.
Tickets can be bought online or in person at Troyer’s Spices at 110 Queen Street, with the production running from Oct. 16 to Nov. 2 at the Town Hall Theatre.
