A chance for community to connect through ‘Your City. Your Future.’

It’s a chance to connect Grade 10 students with people and possibilities shaping their city.

Five hundred plus students are expected to attend ‘Your City. Your Future.’, on Oct. 2 at the Rotary Community Hall.

Stratford Mayor Martin Ritsma said the inaugural half day event is a collaboration between the City of Stratford, local schools and community partners.

“As a former educator, I’ve always believed in the importance of listening to young people,” Ritsma told MyStratfordNow.

“Their insights, questions, and hopes can offer essential guidance.”

Students will explore civic life, discover local opportunities, and share their hopes for the city’s future.

Ritsma said the event is about listening to young people and inviting them to see themselves as vital contributors to Stratford’s present and future. It will feature small-group conversations with civic leaders, industry owners, and community partners.

“The response from our civic,  community and industry leaders has been deeply encouraging. It’s another step toward building a city where young people feel heard, valued, and connected and where leaders listen and learn alongside them.”

Organizers said it will also feature interactive displays for students to learn about youth programs, volunteer opportunities, cultural organizations, and future pathways available
in Stratford from a selection of local industries.
