Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive goes Saturday in Stratford

Hunger doesn’t take any days off.

Stratford House of Blessing is hosting its annual Thanksgiving Food Drive on Saturday at Food Basics, Zehrs Markets and No Frills.

You can stop by the grocers from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and help stock the shelves at the city’s food bank, and help them shore up some much needed items, which include school snacks, soup, peanut butter and mac and cheese.

House of Blessing is also bringing back its Ride for Refuge on Oct. 4, where you can run or walk in support of the food bank. A donation page is available at the HOB website.

This year’s goal is $25,000.

The Empty Bowls fundraiser also returns to the Stratford Rotary Complex on Oct. 24.

Dozens of restaurants are bringing samples for a night of good eats and there are 800 plus hand painted bowls from local artists up for sale.

Volunteers are needed for Ride for Refuge and Empty Bowls.

If interested contact Stratford House of Blessing.
