Purolator couriers ended up collecting over 9,000 pounds of food across Perth County.
From Sept. 13 to 20, Purolator’s Tackle Hunger Red Bag Campaign ran in the region, where red bags were dropped off at local residences.
People were asked to fill them with non-perishable food items and leave them by the doorstep on the 20th for couriers to take to local food banks facing food insecurity in their community.
Unit Manager for Stratford Greg Yake said they collected almost 6,000 more pounds of food this year, compared to 2024.
“The Stratford team is incredibly proud to live and work in the communities that we do,” said Yake.
“The success of this year’s Red Bag campaign, especially with the support from smaller towns in Perth County, shows the power of small-town values and generosity.”
Food banks receiving items include Stratford House of Blessing, St. Mary’s Salvation Army, Mitchell Salvation Army, and Tavistock Assistance Program.
