Cops for Cancer Fundraiser raises over $25,000 for cancer research

This year’s Cops For Cancer Fundraiser event raised over $25,000 in Mitchell.

The event was held in Keterson Park last Saturday, where it aimed to raise money to support kids cancer research and to send kids living with cancer to camp.

Stratford Police Constable Aaron Mountfield said the event saw a great turnout.

“It was good to see lots of kids out, we had police vehicles out, a barbecue, and Ken’s French Fries also attended,” said Mountfield.

“Originally, we had a goal of just a little over $21,000, so this definitely exceeded our goal this year.”

He said the event also saw Stratford Police and Perth County OPP officers get their head/beard shaved, where people donated to shave a piece of their hair.

He added while there’s no more in-person events for the campaign, residents are still encouraged to donate online.
