Organizers of this year’s Stratford 5K Run/Walk said this could be one of their best ones yet.
The race returns this Sunday at Upper Queens Park, with the goal of raising money for the Local Community Food Centre.
Event organizer Dan Rajagopalan said they did some last-minute measuring of the course earlier this week.
“I went on a run of the course to make sure it was 5 kilometers, and we’re set,” said Rajagopalan.
“Last year, we were a little bit nervous, the weather was supposed to be windy and cold,” said event organizer Jonathan Nesbitt.
“We got lucky last minute, but this year it’s looking to be perfect.”
For people registering to the race, Rajagopalan said they’ve sold out online.
The Centre aims to support those facing barriers with accessing good food by giving them opportunities to cook, grow, share, and advocate for good food through multiple programs.
Runners will be moving through Victoria Lake and the Stratford Festival Theatres, with a kids race included for the event.
The event starts at 8:50 a.m.
