Stratford resident wins $50K after picking up ticket ‘out of the blue’

A ticket purchased ‘out of the blue’ has resulted in a $50,000 lotto prize for a Stratford resident.

Richard Smith, recently retired from industrial engineering, won a WINTARIO ticket during the summer. OLG said he texted his three kids after winning and called the windfall, an “exciting, fabulous feeling.”

He plans to have a nice dinner to celebrate and may catch a Detroit Red Wings game.

The winning ticket was purchased at Zehrs on Ontario Street.
