St. Marys firefighters hosting events for Fire Prevention Week

Two events are coming up as part of Fire Prevention Week in St. Marys.

The theme for this year’s week is Charge into Fire Safety: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home, with a focus on how important it is to buy, charge, and recycle batteries safely.

St. Marys FD host a fire truck visit and swag bag booth on Thursday at Your Independent Grocer from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A fire department open house runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Firefighters advise buying products using batteries with a safety certification mark like UL, ETL, or CSA, use the cords that come with the products to charge them, and recycle your battery or device in a safe recycling location.
