UTRCA says access to recreation areas extended six weeks

You’ll get to enjoy more recreation opportunities after the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority (UTRCA) extended its shoulder season.

The conservation authority said that includes day use-access of Wildwood and Fanshawe conservation areas for an extra six weeks, starting Oct. 20.

The extended season includes customer service staff on site, access to hiking and biking trails, access to playgrounds, BBQs, picnic areas, green space, and washrooms, and access to the reservoir in both areas for canoeing and kayaking.

Conservation Areas Coordinator Damian Schofield said they’re happy to continue with day-use access through the fall.

“The shoulder season is very well received by our patrons who not only appreciate many of the amenities and recreational opportunities they are used to during the summer months being available, but also the thrill of experiencing fall colours as they step in nature,” said Schofield.

UTRCA added a lower vehicle day pass fee of $10 for up to four people, or a $5 pedestrian/cyclist day pass will be charged this season.

The extended season ends on Nov. 30.
