L’Arche Stratford’s Walk ‘n Roll aims to fund new building

An annual walk looks to help L’Arche Stratford’s efforts in constructing a new building.

The group’s annual Walk ‘n Roll is returning this month, where residents will walk around Upper Queens Park for an hour on Oct. 18.

The goal is to raise money to support the construction of a new building for L’Arche’s members, which will be located at 426 Britannia Street.

This 15,000 sq. ft. fully accessible building will provide eight affordable, independent living suites, activity rooms and a community kitchen.

The facility goes a long way towards helping alleviate the overwhelming need for affordable housing for people with developmental disabilities, officials said.

Funds are being raised through the $6.5 million ‘Be Belong Become’ capital campaign.

A federal Enabling Accessibility Fund, announced in May 2025, is contributing nearly $2 million for accessible parking, washrooms, showers and doors.

The walk includes refreshments and treats.

L’Arche said registration begins the day of the event at 9:30 a.m. The walk starts at 10 a.m.
