The bones are shaking with excitement.
Skeletons of Vivian Line returns Saturday for a 12th year to the home of Melissa McKerlie and the founder of the charitable event predicts an exciting and entertaining season.
The ‘fun-loving’ skeletons reside on McKerlie’s front yard for 13 days leading up to Halloween, with a fall fair theme.
“Our whole goal every day is to make people smile and laugh. It’s also about showing the creativity and imagination of Halloween.”
Skeletal displays are changed each day, and fans show up to see the creativity and imagination that volunteers put into it.
The smiles come full circle, McKerlie said, because they accept donations for Operation Smile Canada, an organization that performs surgeries for cleft lip and palette for children in developing countries.
“It’s an amazing organization that changes the lives of these children, who literally can’t smile.”
The Skeletons have raised more than $200,000 since 2018 and changed the lives of more than 840 children who needed surgery.
Local area businesses have pitched in to help fund the displays.
Donations can be made online or in-person on weekdays noon until 6 p.m. and weekends 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.
