New venue and format for Business Excellence Awards

One of the big nights for Stratford & District Chamber of Commerce will be a little different this year.

Tom Patterson Theatre is the venue for the Business Excellence Awards on Nov 6., with a revamped format to celebrate the business community that includes more networking.

Chamber GM Aaron Martin said feedback indicated guests want to mingle more at the awards, rather than sit at one table for the majority of the night.

Organizers listened and will have more of a cocktail hour format, with Hors d’oeuvres.

Guests will then be ‘ushered into the theatre for an immersive showcase of success, vision, and leadership’.

Martin said the event is still all about celebrating the local business community and non-profits. There are 10 different award categories including business of the year.

“It’s all about seeing who is out there, what they are doing. Sometimes you are in your own little silo. This opens you up to see the other sectors that are out there and how they are functioning. And get connected with them as well.”

This year’s business leader award recipient is realtor Marian deWever.

“Very humble and serving person who wants to see the best for our community,” said Martin.

CJCS Morning show host Jamie Cottle will emcee the evening.

Tickets are on sale now at the chamber website.
