Stratford Kinsmen ‘Catch the Ace’ padding some pockets with cash

A local fundraiser is helping the Kinsmen Club of Stratford and providing some decent payouts for local residents.

Run by the Kinsmen Club of Stratford, in partnership with the Stratford Army Navy, Airforce Veterans in Canada Unit 261, and the Knights of Columbus, Catch the Ace supports local community projects.

After 26 weeks, the club said the pot sits at more than $12,500.

Tickets are sold weekly and gives the purchasers the opportunity to select the Ace of Spades from a deck of 52 regular playing cards.

Last week Darlene Robertson walked away with $517 after picking an envelope that had the six of Clubs.

The holder of the chosen ticket wins 20 percent of that week’s sale. The lottery ends when the card inside the drawn ticket is the Ace of Spades.

Tickets can be bought online or at Knights of Columbus Hall, the William Allman Memorial Arena and Joe’s Diner.

The next draw is set for this Halloween at the ANAF Friday Lunch.
