Stratford residents can learn the skills of backstage theatre at Off The Wall workshops.
The theatre production learning centre announced the event line-up for the colder months, providing an opportunity to learn wig making, pattern drafting, theatrical upholstery, and art direction from early January to late March.
Off The Wall Board Chair Elizabeth Dahmen said historically they would hold most of their workshops in the summer as the teachers, who are theatre professionals, would be the most available around that time.
“As we have expanded our roster of teachers and are meeting more amazing artists, we’re reach out to teachers to ask if they’re available now, so we’re able to expand.”
Dahmen said winter workshops are shorter, not “one-week intensives we do in the summer.”
More locals will be available to attend in the winter and they’ll take place on the weekends, with some on Fridays and Saturdays.
They hope to provide a lense on what happens backstage for theatre shows, and the process that comes with it.
