The Town of St. Marys will use $673,000 in funding through the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund for road projects and Mayor Al Strathdee said the town already knows the finer details about where the funds will go.
“We have a big project in the west end to replace a culvert that’s been damaged, we have some street projects where we’re going to be doing some engineering and street work on Ontario Street,” said Strathdee.
Strathdee said the funding is designed for infrastructure and not for operational funding.
“There’s a number of sidewalks and storm drains, all types of things that have become quite expensive since COVID and construction costs have increased exponentially.”
The money comes as part of a $600 million investment from the Ontario government to support 388 small, rural and northern municipalities.
“It’s actually a little bit higher than what we had expected,” said Strathdee.
