A night of live music to support Kiwanis Christmas Basket Fund

A night of live music will help local families ahead of Christmas.

The Kiwanis Club of Stratford has announced Bands for Baskets, featuring artists HWY 19, The Bannerman Brothers, and Ethan Maac, in support of the Kiwanis Christmas Basket Fund.

The Hall on Church Street is the venue on Dec. 13. The show starts at 8 p.m.

The fund distributes thousands of dollars of food each year to those in need in Stratford.

The club hopes to raise $60,000 to feed over 1,000 families.

Club member Dave Evans said that equals out to almost 2,100 people.

“When you go into a place and you see 100 people there, there’s seven people struggling for food,” said Evans.

“I look at Christmas as a special time of year, but for a lot of families, it’s just another day that you’re struggling to put food on the table.”

Tickets cost $30, and can be bought either at the Needles Appliance Centre at 144 Erie Street, or at the CJCS/2 DayFM radio station at 376 Romeo Street South.
