Officer urges alertness when approached by door-to-door salespeople

Stay alert if a salesperson knocks on your door in Stratford.

The City said that while some people might be conducting legitimate business, others may attempt to pressure you into signing contracts, sharing personal information or buying unnecessary services.

They added that door-to-door salespeople need a license from the clerk’s department before they go door knocking.

To keep yourself safe, the city encourages you to take the time to review any information before agreeing to anything, to ask for ID from the salesperson, to not rush, and to never share personal, banking, or utility detail unless you confirm the business is real.

If something feels off, call Stratford Police Service at 519-271- 4141 ext.  2, and if you feel unsafe, call 9-1-1.
