Police offering reward in Derek Ritz missing person case

A multi-year search for the whereabouts of a missing Perth County man continues on.

Stratford police announced on New Year’s Day a $10,000 reward for anyone who provides information resulting in confirmed whereabouts of Derek Ritz and the closure of the case and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone responsible.

Ritz was reported missing to Perth OPP on Jan. 7, 2017.

He was last seen in Sebringville on Dec. 31, 2016.

Stratford police took over the investigation and have conducted what they call in a media release an “exhaustive investigation” into the disappearance, including interviewing 100 potential witnesses and conducting extensive property searches.

Deputy Chief Mark Taylor said Ritz’s recovery remains of the utmost priority to Stratford police and the police service would like to provide closure, and recognize the impact his disappearance has had on the community.

Anyone with information no matter how insignificant it may seem is urged to contact police.

Information can be directed to Det. Sgt. Mike Weyers at 519-271-4147 ext. 8184, or to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS
