West Region Festive RIDE Campaign ends with 269 impaired charges

More drivers face impaired driving charges during the recently completed Festive RIDE Campaign than last year.

West Region OPP completed its Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere campaign on New Year’s Day with 269 impaired driving charges and 40 warn-range suspensions.

There were seven impaired charges laid in Perth County and one warn range suspension.

Officers conducted 3,095 Festive RIDE check events across 13 detachments, the most RIDE events in the region in five years.

Last year’s campaign saw 187 impaired driving charges and 19 warn-range suspensions after police in the region conducted 1,938 RIDE checks.

Police advise calling 9-1-1 if you suspect someone is driving under the influence.
