Boost your mental health during a long, arduous winter

Stratford Police Services Const. Darren Fischer says there are ways to boost your mental health in the middle of winter.

In an interview with MyStratfordNow, Fischer said this time of year is a tough one for people, especially with constant snowfall and a lack of sunlight impacting everyone.

“I think this hits home with almost everybody, including myself. I woke up today and I thought I am done with shoveling my driveway, I’m done with having to go out to the cold and I need some sunlight,” said Fischer.

He said that people struggling with mental health are not alone, and creating community and talking about the struggle can help ease the problem.

Fischer recommends getting outside for a couple of minutes of fresh air, going for a walk, to the gym, or finding a yoga video on YouTube.
