Popular Heartburn Day is back on the event menu in February

A beloved chili cook-off is making its return to Stratford next month.

Heartburn Day returns on Feb. 28 to the Rotary Complex from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to raise funds for Simple Dreams, a local fundraising organization.

Mike Bayer of Gilly’s Pubhouse said he talked to Simple Dreams founder Richard Kneider about bringing the cook-off back.

“I was really wanting to bring this event back, it used to be great. Last year we talked about it for a little bit, but things get in the way and you get busy,” said Bayer.

“This year it was on my mind again and then I got a message from Richard one day saying he was talking to Kevin Miller out of Automotion, and he had mentioned it. So we had a little chat and said let’s do it.”

The event includes live music, a silent auction, and prizes.

Admission is free.
