ONEX BUS services coming to an end in the Festival City

ONEXBUS Service is set to cease Stratford operations.

In a statement provided to MyStratfordNow, the company said effective next month, they are suspending all trips to Stratford until further notice.

“This decision has been made after careful consideration, and we will communicate any updates through our website as soon as circumstances allow us to resume these trips.”

Stratford Mayor Martin Ritsma said he talked to the company owner and was told ridership numbers were not there to pay for expenses that include drivers, fuel and insurance.

Stratford service started at the beginning of 2024.

The Stratford route offered morning and midday trips to Kitchener and Pearson International Airport and trips back from Toronto to Stratford, according to the company website. They also offered service to London.

Ritsma said he used the service in the past for trips to Toronto and he is disappointed because he “found the service outstanding.”

“The problem is not enough people have used it on an ongoing basis.”

The inter-city bus service will continue to provide passenger travel in other communities between London, Toronto and Ottawa.

The mayor said a transportation company called FlixBus, famous for their lime green colours, could be coming to Stratford.

“I have reached out and more information will be forthcoming.”
