Chili lovers rejoice as Heartburn Day returns to Stratford

Chilis, live music, and a silent auction are on the menu for Heartburn Day.

The popular chili cook-off runs Saturday at the Rotary Complex to raise funds for Simple Dreams, a local fundraising organization.

Simple Dreams founder Richard Kneider said he’s excited.

“I can’t thank Mike enough and Kevin from Automotion for just spearheading this, and getting it together,” said Kneider.

Mike Bayer, owner of Gilly’s Pubhouse, says the first 500 entrants get customized Erie Drive-in spoons.

“You’re happy to keep it as keepsake, but once Erie Drive-in opens, if you bring your spoon back to it, you get a free ice cream cone for it,” said Bayer.

Admission is free, and the event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
