Upcoming coffee chat aims to educate seniors on cybersecurity

You can learn how to stay safe from digital threats while having a coffee.

Adult Learning Programs of Perth is holding Cyber Security for Seniors, an event aimed at giving Stratford and St. Mary’s seniors tips to avoid some common online threats.

The Local Community Food Centre in Stratford hosts the event March 31 from 3 to 5 p.m.

Participants can also learn ways to stay safe from phishing, malware, ransom and password attacks.

Adult Learning instructor Stephanie Shute says some seniors aren’t as tech literate as others.

“Cyber criminals are becoming more intelligent with their tactics, and they’re often preying on seniors and their vulnerabilities as far as not knowing what to look for,” said Shute.

You can register by calling Shute at 519-272-5174 or by emailing: sshute@town.stmarys.on.ca.
