It’s an opportunity to meet your neighbours while having dinner together at the Rotary Complex.
Rotary Club of Stratford is getting ready for the 99th annual Rural Urban Dinner on April 16, a celebration of fellowship between residents of Stratford and the surrounding county.
Officials said it first started in 1927, where according to Rotary Club president Dan Kane, it was a picnic before a dinner.
“We’re in a unique situation where Stratford is a city and operates as one, and just right beside us is all this great rural activity,” said Kane.
“There’s opportunity for conversations back and forth where for a city to grow, how do we deal with agriculture and for agriculture to prosper, we need a city to consume.”
There is a social hour before dinner including beer, wine and cheese, followed by a banquet of locally-sourced foods.
Guest speaker John Drummond will talk about the history of a third generation farmer and the challenges of planting more trees.
Live music, draws, and door prizes are also included.
Tickets are $50 and can be found here.
