A young bookworm is raising money towards a new library

Nine-year-old bookworm Izzy Martchenko is hoping to raise money towards a new library.

This is through Izzy’s Book Sale at Bedford Public School on April 25 at 10 a.m.

“I gave Izzy the option of supporting whatever charity she wanted to with our efforts this year. And she heard about the need for a new library,” said her mom, Lindsey Martchenko.

Lindsey said Izzy chose to support the Stratford Public Library (SPL) to help make the building more accessible.

“It’s basically our second home. So as soon as she heard that there was a need for a bigger library, she jumped on the chance to support it,” Lindsey said.

Lindsey said all books are being sold by cash donation to support SPL and anyone looking to donate their books towards the sale can do so until April 19.

The Martchenko’s have hosted events like these before, including a book sale in support of MS Canada in 2024.
