It’s a way for professionals to support children and youth affected by sexual violence in Huron and Perth counties.
On Monday, several local education, police service and social service organizations launched the Huron Perth Child and Youth Sexual Violence Support Guide.
The guide is designed to support professionals in responding to disclosures of sexual violence involving children and youth and supports access to appropriate care.
It includes educational resources that help with their work in the community.
Officials said in a media release this comes as youth ages 12 to 17 accounted for 30 per cent of police‑reported sexual assault victims in 2022, according to Statistics Canada.
Officials added the guide is intended to be a starting point for a consistent, community-wide approach to support when sexual violence is disclosed.
