Crews are getting set to work on the outdoor staircases at St. Marys town hall.
In a media release, the town announced both staircases will be reconstructed beginning next week. Restoration and life extension are the goals. Work will include removing staircases, rebuilding structures, and installing heat cables to reduce the need for salt and sand during the winter.
The first phase focuses on the Church Street staircase, and is expected to last six weeks.
Officials add during that phase, there will be no access the town hall service desk and outside washroom.
Regular services will instead be provided by phone, online, or by going to different facilities.
The second phase will focus on the Queen Street outdoor stairs. Details on that part of the project have yet to be announced.
