Stratford man’s run to Tobermory in support of wife raises $36K

Samm Simon lost a few toenails, some weight and picked up a few aches and pains.

The Stratford resident, who ran from the Festival City to Tobermory, said his troubles were nothing compared to someone living with cancer.

That includes his wife, who is battling cancer for a third time.

Simon raised $36,251, ran 256 kilometres and raised a lot of awareness along the way.

“It’s a little further than we anticipated, but when you’re running like that, every kilometre, you feel it. The run went very well. It had its bumps and bruises along the way, but I knew it would, I was training for it, and we completed it in seven days.”

Simon raised funds for Stratford General Hospital, Wellspring Stratford, and London Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre.

Simons said the love and support he received was “unbelievable”.
