Blaze the Trail event to bring younger and older generations together

An upcoming service day aims to connect students with the residents of Spruce Lodge and Woodland Towers and their families.

Blaze the Trail with Hearts that Serve will see hairstyling and aesthetic students from St. Michael Catholic Secondary School style the residents hair, apply make-up, and give them a manicure on June 9.

Kathleen Voneuw, St. Michael’s department head of technical education, said it’s the first funding for the event and it’s through the school board.

After the hairstyling and manicuring, seniors will have their picture taken by media arts students, who can print the photos to give to the residents families.

Visual art students will do take-home projects with the seniors afterwards.

The event runs from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
