The long-awaited update for the Festival City’s stormwater master plan is in the works.
At Monday night’s meeting, city council voted unanimously in favour of awarding consulting services for the project to a Collingwood-based firm that works in civil, municipal environmental, water resources, and low impact development engineering.
Manager of Engineering Nathan Bottema’s management report says the plan hasn’t been updated since 2004 and the new version will provide the city with an understanding of how the stormwater network is performing and how to address needs.
The report adds that the consultant would need to update the storm system model, identify flood vulnerable areas, recommend drainage improvements, and inform both short and long-term planning for stormwater infrastructure upgrades.
The project will cost $350,000 and should start this month.
