New hands-on workshops are offering a chance to learn about Indigenous art traditions and cultural teachings.
Kaswentha Two Row Now is hosting a three-part series at the Falstaff Family Centre’s Gathering Place.
Participants can focus on making dream catchers, bone chokers and paintings.
In a media release, the collective said the goal is to foster learning, creativity and cultural understanding.
Workshops will be led by visual artist Christin Dennis, also known by his traditional name Gzhiiquot (Fast Moving Cloud), a Knowledge Carrier from Aamjiwnaang First Nation (Chippewas of Sarnia First Nation).
Gzhiiquot said his art reflects the current era of Aboriginal culture, and focuses on the sweat lodge and carrying on the traditions of old into the contemporary world.
Two Row Now is comprised of Indigenous educators, local businesses, health agencies, social service organizations, and community members committed to advancing reconciliation.
Advanced registration is required with a space limit of 20 people per session.
Workshops run June 24, July 1 and July 15 from 6 to 9 p.m.
