Stratford Festival receives more than $2 million from Ontario Arts Council

Stratford’s theatre scene will continue to grow through a sizeable donation from the Ford government.

In a media release, Perth-Wellington MPP Matthew Rae announced that Stratford Festival is receiving more than $2 million from the Ontario Arts Council,  the main funding body for arts in the province.

Rae said the funding will allow the festival to continue delivering their plays while supporting tourism, creating good jobs, and generating economic benefits for Stratford and Perth County.

Rae’s office added the money comes through the council’s Major Organizations: Contribution Agreements program, which provides operating support to major arts organizations that are significant to their region.
