Truth, imagination, and creativity are at the forefront of upcoming discussions at the Meighen Forum.
Stratford Festival announced Tanya Talaga, Yann Martel, and Peter Oundjian will speak in late-August at the Tom Patterson Theatre.
Along with limited-time performances, the forum features interviews with artists, authors, and cultural figures about a variety of topics as part of the celebrated speaker series.
Officials said Talaga is a celebrated writer, journalist, filmmaker, and the founder of Makwa Creative (an Indigenous owned production company), known for helping to transform national conversations around Indigenous experiences through her work.
The interview with Talaga, hosted by actor-comedian Ali Hassan, will focus on her career and decades-long pursuit of the truth through storytelling. The event is scheduled for Aug. 21 at 10:30 a.m.
Martel, an author most famous for his novel The Life of Pi, will be interviewed by Hassan on Aug. 22 at 10:30 a.m.
Officials say that interview will dive into the imagination, curiosity, and philosophical questions that have defined Martel’s work.
Oundijan, best known for his work as music director of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, will chat with psychiatrist and friend Dr. David Goldbloom about the conductor’s musical journey.
Along with conducting several orchestras around the world, Oundjian also works as music director of the Colorado Symphony and the Colorado Music Festival, and has taught at Yale University School of Music since 1981.
That interview is scheduled for Aug. 29 at 10:30 a.m.
Tickets can be found at the Stratford Festival website.
