What a Blessing: 2,777 pounds of donated food a ‘huge help’ this time of year

More shelves will be filled at Stratford House of Blessing as they’ve received a sizeable donation from a recent food drive.

Purolator held the fundraiser at Food Basics on July 25.

A big total of 2,777 pounds of food was donated along with $1,407.

Donations will help support those facing food insecurity.

Resource Coordinator Aaron Balzer said it’s a huge help, especially at this time of year.

“Summer tends to be a little bit slower for donations, people are away on vacation, people are busy at home with their kids off of school, there’s many reasons for it so to have something like this come in in the middle of the summer is a huge help to make sure our clients get what they need, because the need doesn’t slow down.”

He said donated food includes non-perishables like canned items and cereals.

Balzer added they’re very appreciative of the support.
