Charges against Perth County resident after multi-vehicle collision in Huron County

A West Perth resident faces driving impaired charges after a multi-vehicle collision north of Kirkton.

Provincial police officers from Perth and Huron detachments responded to a collision on Road 164 on Tuesday at 10:40 a.m., along with West Perth firefighters.

Police say the collision involved a semi-truck and car hauler trailer, a sport utility vehicle and a passenger sedan.

As part of the investigation, police spoke to the sedan driver who they say had consumed alcohol prior to driving and was subsequently arrested for impaired operation.

Minor injuries were reported by the vehicle occupiers involved.

Charges against the 52-year-old include operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs, dangerous operation and failing to wear a seatbelt. A driver’s license suspension of 90 days was implemented.

The involved vehicle was towed away and impounded for seven days.

Charges will be addressed at Ontario Court of Justice Goderich on Sept. 21.
