New associate medical officer of health for HPPH

Huron Perth Public Health has a new associate medical officer of health.

Dr. Lauren Hayward has been appointed to the role, bringing 12 years of family medicine experience in both Huron and Perth counties, according to a media release.

Officials say she served as HPPH physician consultant for five years, which included being director of the population health department, provided sexual health services with the former Perth District Health Unit and HPPH since 2017, and also worked as a family physician in North Perth.

Medical Officer of Health Dr. Miriam Klassen said this appointment marks an important milestone.

Hayward holds a medical degree from Western University, family medicine certification from McMaster University, and a Master of Public Health from University of Waterloo.

Hayward said she looks forward to continue working with the team to help improve health and well-being in both communities.
