New fire chief looks forward to getting to know the community

Eric MacFadden is excited to serve Stratford as the city’s new fire chief.

He succeeds Neil Anderson in the role, who retired on June 30 after 38 years of military and civilian fire service.

MacFadden brings plenty of experience, starting his career in Barrie in 1998.

I started as a firefighter. I progressed through the ranks of captain, platoon chief and then eventually moved into the management role of an assistant deputy chief and then deputy chief until I recently retired at the end of May,” MacFadden told MyStratfordNow.

Prior to that, MacFadden served as a volunteer for the Newbury & District department.

Since he’s new to the Festival City, MacFadden said his first job is to listen, learn and meet people.

“It’s important to me to get to know the community I work in, and so I’m excited to really dive in and get to know Stratford and how I can support them with the skills that I have.”

He added he’s proud to be the leader of Stratford FD and will work to ensure they’re set up for success.
