Official selections announced for Stratford Film Festival

Forty films in five days and five nights.

That’s the breadth of work at this year’s edition of the Stratford Film Festival Nov. 4-8.

Categories include narrative features, documentary features, shorts, made in Canada, growing pains and land and legacy.

Some of the entries feature well-known, international stars including Jimpa, based on the life of Sophie Hyde, who also directs the film. Casting includes Olivia Colman and John Lithgow as the title character.

In the Made in Canada section, Hockey Mom, directed by Mikaela Lily Davies, is described as a “quick-witted comedy about motherhood, embarrassment and trying to get it right.”

Closing night will feature The Balloonists, a documentary that follows Bertrand Piccard and Brian Jones, “competing against the world’s finest pilots and extremely wealthy adventurers to become the first individuals to fly a hot air balloon around the globe nonstop.”

Tickets and information about the selections are available at the film festival website.
