Shelterlink Youth Services says this Thanksgiving is especially meaningful as they celebrate 35 years of helping youth experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Perth County.
Shelterlink said they’re grateful for the work of staff, volunteers, partners and neighbours, as well as the resilience of the youth who step through their doors.
Development & Community Engagement Manager Michelle Cutts told MyStratfordNow working with the founders is a privilege.
“There are these three amazing women who started Shelterlink in 1991 because they saw a need, and they just made it happen. They volunteered their time, their money, their hearts, everything into it.”
Shelterlink runs an outreach program, shelter, and a post-shelter program.
Staff add they are thankful to get donations from the community and to see young people move to independent living and continue their education while navigating housing instability.
They hope the community celebrates past accomplishments, while also looking forward to what can be accomplished in the future.
