A blowing snow warning is in effect today. Environment Canada says an Arctic low pressure system will be tracking through Southern Ontario and very strong southwest winds of 40 to 60 km/h with possible gusts to 80 km/h are developing as expected in advance of the low. These winds, combined with falling snow, are expected to result in widespread blowing snow, lowering visibilities to 500 metres or less. Motorists are advised to exercise caution as visibilities are expected to be near zero at times, resulting in dangerous winter driving conditions. Highway 7/8 remains closed in both directions between Stratford and New Hamburg.
