Gas leak in Stratford repaired, most customers back online

A gas leak in Stratford has been fixed, and residents have returned to their homes.

Union Gas says about 97 customers in the Brunswick and Albert Street area had to have their gas shut off Monday night.

Andrea Stass is a spokesperson for Union Gas.

She says they aren’t sure yet what caused the leak:

Union Gas footed the bill for any customers without heat to spend last night at the Arden Park Hotel.

Stass is also reminding people that the winter weather can present a danger for reasons other than just the cold:

Stass says that as of this afternoon only one customer’s gas had yet to be turned back on.
