The OPP is offering some snowmobile safety tips to operators.
Police say you should always make sure you carry the appropriate documents, such as your driver’s licence or motorized snow vehicle licence with you.
You should also make sure the ownership, registration number, validation sticker and insurance slip are all attached to the sled.
You should never drink or do drugs before heading out, and should always obey the speed limits and stick to posted trails.
Stay off of private property as riding on it qualifies as trespassing.
Always tell someone where you’re going and check the weather forecast before heading out as well.
