Lemenchick, Lawrence

Lawrence “Larry” Joseph Lemenchick, age 83, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at Spruce Lodge on Wednesday December 31, 2014. Son of the late Alexander and Catherine (Mosco) Lemenchick. Predeceased by his loving wife Teresa (Birmingham) Lemenchick on October 27, 2011.  Loving father of Tom (Susan) Lemenchick, Rose Lemenchick, Cathy Lemenchick, Joanne (Rodrique) Doucet all of Stratford. Very proud grandfather of Brittany (Chris) Meadows, Diana (Matthew) Bordman and Lindsey Sutherland. Great grandfather of Olivia and Sophia Bordman. Larry came to Stratford to play hockey for the Stratford Indians who were finalists in the Allen cup in 1951, he loved many sports, golf being one of them winning the City Championship. Larry was employed with London Life for over 25 years, before retiring and working for the Sheriff of the County of Perth. Larry was a very active member with the Knights of Columbus (Past Grand Knight), L’Arche Stratford and was a Rotary Club member as well as a faithful member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church.  Survived by his brother John (Kathryn) Lemenchick and sister Margaret (Richard) Touma along with sisters-in-law Rita Lemenchick, Mary Lemenchick and Marion McDermid. Besides his parents and wife, Larry was predeceased by his siblings: Grace (Alex) Broyden, Laura (Edward) Tolfree, Leonard Lemenchick, Charles (Julia) Lemenchick and Charles’s lifelong partner Theresa, Alex Lemenchick, Catherine (Fred) Shortell and Gerald Lemenchick. Friends and relatives may call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Saturday January 3, 2015 from 4:30 p.m. – 8:00p.m., and on Sunday January 4, 2015 from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.  (The Knights of Columbus will hold a service at 3:45 p.m. on Sunday). The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 96 Huron Street, Stratford on Monday January 5, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Fr. David Butler will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in Avondale Cemetery.
