Cullitons assistant captain sentenced to a year in prison

Mitch Vandergunst has been sentenced to one year in prison.

Reports say the decision was made in a Goderich court on Wednesday.

Vandergunst, one of the Stratford Cullitons’ assistant captains, forced sex on a woman in 2013.

On top of the year in prison he was given two years of probation, ordered to give DNA samples and isn’t allowed to communicate with the victim or her family.

Vandergunst has filed an appeal.
