Pettapiece pushes again for municipal liability reform

Randy Pettapiece has renewed his call for municipal liability insurance reform.

The Perth-Wellington MPP brought it up last Thursday during the first week of the legislative session.

The current system says if two or more parties are found at fault or negligent damages can be taken from any of the defendants.

That puts municipalities on the hook when others can’t pay.

Last February Pettapiece’s private member’s motion calling for reform passed with all party support.

Premier Kathleen Wynne then announced that her government would not be introducing reforms.
